KNWA Today: Enrollment Begins for Arkansas Health Insurance Marketplace

ARKANSAS (KNWA) - Open enrollment in the state-based health insurance exchange has started. The program provides health insurance plans for individuals who do not have access to employer-provided insurance.

Individual plans available through the Arkansas Health Insurance Marketplace are designed to meet the needs of Arkansas families and provide a variety of options to fit household budgets. Each plan option provides comprehensive benefits and is administered by trusted insurance providers.

The most important features of each plan available through the Marketplace include no restrictions for pre-existing conditions and no lifetime limits. Also included are standard health care benefits such as inpatient care, outpatient services, emergency care, maternity and newborn care, and prescription drugs. The importance of preventative care and screenings, most of which do not require a co-payment, are also emphasized.

Additionally, financial help is available to help pay for the cost of insurance.

"Now is the time for those who have no insurance or those who need to renew their coverage to explore their options for 2019," said Angela Lowther, executive director of the Arkansas Health Insurance Marketplace. "The place to start is myARinsurance.com. We have trained and licensed professionals throughout Arkansas who can help enrollees through the process of selecting the health insurance options that are right for them."

Arkansans who currently have coverage through the marketplace should visit myARinsurance.com by Dec. 15 to explore new plans and prices for 2019.

"All it takes is one catastrophic illness to send an individual or family into deep financial debt," Lowther said. "Uninsured Arkansans should view individual health insurance coverage through myARinsurance.com as an investment in the health and wellbeing of their families."
