AHIM Update: Important Contacts and AID Form

The May 3 meeting, hosted by the Arkansas Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA-AR), was very informative, with more than 60 people in attendance. Mary Franklin, DHS Director of the Division of County Operations, presented an overview of details related to new Work and Community Engagement Requirements which begin being phased in on June 1. The details are outlined in the DHS presentation that can be downloaded by clicking here.

One of the items highlighted is the importance of every agent/broker/assister completing an AID Consumer Consent Form before providing assistance to consumers in Marketplace plan evaluation and selection. For your convenience, we have linked a copy of the Arkansas Insurance Department’s Consumer Consent Form.

We also understand the importance of knowing where to turn for information when you need it. So, AHIM has developed a concise and helpful list of key contacts who you may wish to turn to with specific questions. That list of key contacts has been added to the resources page of the AHIM website, at myARinsurance.com, or it can be accessed directly by clicking here.

Also during the meeting, I reviewed 2018 agent/broker/assister training and certification requirements, which are detailed on AHIM’s website, Training Portal.

While we are outside of the Marketplace Open Enrollment Period, many Arkansans are eligible to take advantage of the Special Enrollment Period associated with an individual’s loss of health insurance, change in household size, change in residence or other changes in personal status. There is a fact sheet entitled Understanding Special Enrollment Periods available on the resources page of the AHIM website, or you can use the following link to access it directly by clicking here.
